Aunt Teen’s Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup evaporated milk
  • 4 tablespoons ½ stick unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 7 ounces marshmallow creme
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup chopped nuts walnuts or pecans, optional

Method
 

  1. Line an 8-inch square pan with aluminum foil and grease lightly; set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, evaporated milk, and butter.
  3. Stir constantly until mixture comes to a gentle boil, then cook and stir for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat; quickly stir in chocolate chips and marshmallow creme until smooth.
  5. Mix in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to balance sweetness.
  6. Fold in chopped nuts if desired for added crunch.
  7. Pour the glossy fudge into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Let cool at room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before slicing.
