Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter or oil

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with paper liners.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, combine the beaten egg, milk, and melted butter until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
