- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar until smooth.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Let it cook for 1 minute to deepen the caramel flavor.
- Remove the pan from heat, then carefully add the milk and vanilla extract. Stir until the frosting is glossy and lump-free.
- Allow the frosting to cool slightly, then use a hand mixer to beat for 1–2 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Spread or pipe onto cooled cakes, cookies, or bars. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
