Method
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- If using a refrigerated pie crust, let it come to room temperature according to package directions, then unroll and place in a 9-inch pie dish, crimping the edges.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded Swiss cheese evenly across the bottom of the pie crust.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and half-and-half until well combined.
- Add the diced ham, onion, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using) to the egg mixture and stir well.
- Pour the egg mixture over the cheese in the pie crust.
- Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of Swiss cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35-40 minutes more, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Allow the quiche to stand for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
