Method
- Combine the 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir gently until the mixture comes to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until all sugar has completely dissolved and the liquid is clear.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the syrup to cool completely to room temperature.
- Transfer the cooled syrup to a clean glass jar or bottle with a tight-fitting lid.
