Ingredients

  • 2 ounces 1/4 cup premium vodka
  • 4 ounces 1/2 cup spicy ginger beer (not ginger ale)
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice from about 1/2 lime
  • Lime wedge for garnish
  • Plenty of ice cubes
  • Optional: Sprig of fresh mint for garnish
  • Optional: Slice of candied ginger for garnish

Method

  1. Fill your copper mug with ice cubes, ideally to the top.
  2. Pour 2 ounces of vodka over the ice.
  3. Add 1/2 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice.
  4. Top with 4 ounces of spicy ginger beer, pouring slowly to maintain carbonation.
  5. Gently stir the mixture with a bar spoon to combine all ingredients without losing carbonation.
  6. Garnish with a lime wedge, pressing it slightly into the drink to release some oils.
  7. If using, add a sprig of mint and/or a slice of candied ginger for extra flavor and visual appeal.
  8. Serve immediately while the drink is cold and the ginger beer is still fizzy.
