- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set aside.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter, and salt over medium heat.
- Stir constantly until the mixture reaches a full rolling boil (about 15 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and toasted pecans.
- Continue stirring until the candy thickens slightly and becomes glossy.
- Working quickly, drop tablespoons of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Let cool completely, about 20 minutes, until set.
