Ingredients
  

  • 1 750 ml bottle dry Spanish red wine (Tempranillo or Rioja recommended)
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur like Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar or honey adjust to taste
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 lime thinly sliced
  • 1 green apple cored and diced
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • Sparkling water or club soda optional, for serving
  • Ice cubes for serving

Method
 

  1. In a large glass pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice, and sugar. Stir gently until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Add the sliced oranges, lemons, limes, diced apples, and sliced strawberries to the wine mixture. Gently stir to combine.
  3. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to develop and blend together.
  4. When ready to serve, give the sangria a gentle stir. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Fill glasses with ice, pour in the sangria, and add a splash of sparkling water if desired for extra effervescence.
  6. Garnish each glass with fresh fruit from the pitcher and serve immediately.
