- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook the macaroni in salted water until just al dente (about 1-2 minutes less than package directions). Drain well.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, 1½ cups of the cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, milk, mayonnaise, thawed peas, diced onion, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the tuna mixture and gently fold until all pasta is well-coated with the creamy sauce.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Top the casserole with the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheddar and the crispy fried onions.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
