Ingredients

  • 3 cups elbow macaroni cooked according to package directions
  • 2 5-ounce cans chunk light tuna in water, drained
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 10.5-ounce can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup frozen peas thawed
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped (optional for garnish)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the macaroni in salted water until just al dente (about 1-2 minutes less than package directions). Drain well.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, 1½ cups of the cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, milk, mayonnaise, thawed peas, diced onion, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Add the cooked macaroni to the tuna mixture and gently fold until all pasta is well-coated with the creamy sauce.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Top the casserole with the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheddar and the crispy fried onions.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
