  • ½ cup coconut oil organic, virgin coconut oil works best
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder use high-quality for best results
  • 3 tablespoons honey adjust to taste for desired sweetness
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt optional, enhances flavor

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients and prepare a silicone mold or line a small baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a heatproof bowl, gently melt the coconut oil over a pot of simmering water (double-boiler method) or in the microwave in 20-second intervals until just melted.
  3. Whisk in the cocoa powder until completely smooth with no lumps.
  4. Add the honey and whisk vigorously until fully incorporated. The mixture may initially resist combining but will eventually form a glossy chocolate mixture.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt (if using).
  6. Pour the chocolate mixture into your prepared mold or dish, spreading evenly.
  7. If adding toppings or mix-ins, sprinkle them over the chocolate now.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until completely set.
  9. Once set, remove from the mold or cut into squares if using a dish.
  10. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
