Ingredients
  

  • 6 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 2 tablespoons of sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the apple mixture in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, remaining cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Use a pastry cutter or fork to cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
