- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 2 tablespoons of sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon until evenly coated.
- Spread the apple mixture in the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, remaining cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Use a pastry cutter or fork to cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
