Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch deep-dish frozen pie crust
  • 6 slices bacon cooked crisp and crumbled (or ½ cup bacon bits)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • cups half-and-half or heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and position a rack in the center.
  2. Place the frozen pie crust on a baking sheet to catch any spills.
  3. Evenly layer the crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese, and Swiss cheese in the crust.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
  5. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese, filling the crust to the rim.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is lightly golden.
  7. Let the quiche rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing to ensure clean cuts.
