Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef ribeye or sirloin
  • cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon mirin or cooking wine
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup green onions sliced
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot julienned (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and mirin. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Mix well to create a flavorful bulgogi marinade.
  3. Place the sliced beef in the bowl, ensuring each piece is coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight for best results).
  4. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a splash of oil if needed.
  5. Stir-fry the beef in batches, cooking 2–3 minutes per side until caramelized.
  6. In the last minute, add onions, carrots, and green onions. Toss until veggies are slightly tender.
  7. Transfer to a platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
