  • 1 16 ounce container nonfat sour cream
  • 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1 ounce package taco seasoning mix
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 2 medium tomatoes diced
  • 1 bell pepper any color, diced
  • 4 green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 2.25 ounce can sliced black olives, drained (optional)
  • 1 jalapeño seeded and finely diced (optional, for extra heat)
  • Tortilla chips
  • Fresh cilantro sprigs optional

Method
 

  1. Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature for about 30 minutes before starting.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and fully blended.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into a 9 or 10-inch round serving dish, creating a smooth base layer.
  4. Sprinkle shredded lettuce evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Add a layer of shredded cheese on top of the lettuce.
  6. Arrange diced tomatoes, bell peppers, and green onions over the cheese layer.
  7. If using, add sliced black olives, jalapeños, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro as the final layer.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to blend.
  9. Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.
