Ingredients

  • 1 16 ounce can refrigerated jumbo buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 pound ground pork breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake according to package directions until golden brown. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground pork sausage. Break apart with a spatula and cook until no pink remains, about 5–6 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage. Stir continuously for 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  5. Stir in salt and black pepper. For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes.
  6. Slice each biscuit in half, place on plates, and ladle the creamy sausage gravy over the top. Serve immediately.
