Ingredients
  

  • cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • cups water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Combine the sugar and cocoa powder in a medium saucepan, whisking together to remove any lumps.
  2. Add the water and whisk until well combined.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a simmer.
  4. Reduce heat to low and continue to simmer for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  6. Allow the syrup to cool completely before transferring to a glass jar or bottle.
  7. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
