Method
- Combine the sugar and cocoa powder in a medium saucepan, whisking together to remove any lumps.
- Add the water and whisk until well combined.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and continue to simmer for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Allow the syrup to cool completely before transferring to a glass jar or bottle.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
