Homemade Cinnabon-Style Cinnamon Rolls

Make delicious Cinnabon-style cinnamon rolls at home instead of searching for 'cinnabon near me'. These homemade cinnamon rolls feature soft, pillowy dough, a buttery cinnamon-sugar filling, and cream cheese frosting that rivals the famous mall bakery version.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F/45°C
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • cup margarine melted
  • cups bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • cup butter softened
  • 3 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • cups confectioners' sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Place milk, eggs, margarine, flour, salt, white sugar, and yeast in the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine's manufacturer. Select the dough cycle and press Start.
  2. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. After the dough cycle completes, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll into a 16x21-inch rectangle about ¼-inch thick.
  4. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
  5. Starting at the longer side, roll up the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 even slices using a sharp knife or unflavored dental floss.
  6. Place rolls in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until nearly doubled in size, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Bake rolls in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. While rolls are baking, beat together cream cheese, butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  9. Spread frosting on rolls while they are still warm (but not hot) for that classic melty Cinnabon-style topping.
