Ingredients
  

  • 2 quarts half-and-half
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Method
 

  1. Gather all your ingredients and chill your ice cream maker bowl if required.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together half-and-half, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s directions (usually 20–25 minutes).
  4. Transfer the soft ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  5. Scoop and serve plain or top with fresh berries, hot fudge, or caramel sauce.
