Ingredients

  • cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter unsweetened, xylitol-free
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional, for added flavor
  • ¼ cup water as needed for consistency

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour and cinnamon (if using), mixing until a stiff dough forms. If the mixture is too dry, add water a tablespoon at a time.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until it comes together.
  5. Roll the dough to approximately ¼-inch thickness.
  6. Use cookie cutters to create your desired shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges begin to turn golden brown and treats are firm.
  8. For extra-crunchy treats, turn off the oven after baking and leave treats inside as it cools for an additional 1-2 hours.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before serving to your eager pup.
