- Gather all ingredients and preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas until almost smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
- Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
- Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, then gently fold in the flour until just blended.
- If using, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips for extra flavor and texture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
