Ingredients

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1.5 –2 lb flank steak

Method

  1. Gather all ingredients and equipment.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well-coated. Seal or cover, then refrigerate.
  4. Let the steak marinate for at least 2 hours, or up to 8 hours for maximum flavor and tenderness.
  5. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F). Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  6. Remove the steak from the marinade, letting any excess drip off. Place on the grill and cook for 5–7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
  7. Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let rest for 10 minutes to lock in juices.
  8. Slice the steak thinly against the grain and serve.
