Ingredients

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts optional

Method

  1. Gather all ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the oil, water, vanilla, and sugar until smooth and shiny.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition to create a glossy batter.
  4. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined—don’t overmix!
  5. Fold in chopped walnuts for extra crunch, if desired.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting into 16 squares.
