- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, combine one package of cake mix with cream cheese, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- Spread half of the dry cake mix into the bottom of the prepared pan—this forms the cake base.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the base layer and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Sprinkle the remaining dry cake mix evenly, then dust the powdered sugar for that ooey, buttery crust.
- Bake for 35 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the center looks set but still gooey.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into bars.
