Method
- Roll and slice the lemons, then juice them until you have about 1½ cups of fresh lemon juice.
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water and the sugar. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to create a simple syrup.
- Transfer the simple syrup to a pitcher. Add the lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.
- Fill glasses with ice, pour in the lemonade, and garnish with mint sprigs or lemon slices if desired.
- Serve immediately for maximum refreshment, or chill in the fridge for up to 2 hours.
