Original Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

The original Toll House cookie recipe has been used for generations. These sweet, chewy cookies are a true American treat no matter what the occasion.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups 281 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup 227 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup 150 g granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup 165 g packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups 340 g semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup 100 g chopped nuts (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually blend in the flour mixture until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using, until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers are set.
  9. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
