- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually blend in the flour mixture until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using, until evenly distributed.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers are set.
- Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
