Ingredients

  • 4 4-ounce tilapia fillets
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 lemon cut into wedges

Method

  1. Pat each tilapia fillet dry with paper towels to ensure a crisp crust. Season both sides evenly with salt and pepper.
  2. Place a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and let it shimmer (about 1 minute).
  3. Add the tilapia fillets to the pan in a single layer. Cook 3–4 minutes per side without moving until golden and flaky.
  4. Reduce heat to medium, add butter around the fillets, and tilt the pan to spoon melted butter over the fish. Squeeze lemon juice on top.
  5. Transfer fillets to a plate, garnish with extra lemon wedges, and serve immediately.
