Ingredients

  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 cup water adjust for desired consistency
  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried rosemary crushed
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar optional, to balance acidity

Method

  1. Gather all ingredients and measure them out for easy assembly.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the tomato paste and ½ cup of water. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, basil, crushed rosemary, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  4. Whisk all ingredients thoroughly until well combined and smooth.
  5. Gradually add more water, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired sauce consistency. For a thicker sauce (like Papa Murphy's uses), you may need less water.
  6. Taste the sauce and add the optional sugar if you find the sauce too acidic.
  7. Allow the sauce to sit for at least 30 minutes at room temperature for flavors to blend, or refrigerate until ready to use.
