Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 1/3 cup milk or heavy cream for extra richness
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or in a small saucepan over low heat.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, sift the cocoa powder to remove any lumps.
  3. Pour the melted butter into the cocoa powder and stir until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, alternating with milk, beating well after each addition.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and salt, then beat until the frosting is smooth and reaches your desired consistency.
  6. If the frosting is too thick, add a little more milk (one teaspoon at a time). If it's too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
