Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Wash the broccoli thoroughly and pat dry with paper towels. Important: Make sure your broccoli is completely dry before roasting—wet broccoli will steam rather than roast!
- Cut the broccoli into evenly-sized florets. If using the stems, peel the tough outer layer and slice into 1/4-inch thick coins.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the broccoli with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) until evenly coated.
- Spread the broccoli in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding to ensure proper browning.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, tossing halfway through cooking time, until the edges are crispy and slightly browned but the broccoli is still tender when pierced with a fork.
- If using, sprinkle with fresh lemon juice and Parmesan cheese immediately after removing from the oven.
- Serve hot as a delicious side dish to complement any meal.
