Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top if available.
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasonings stick and promotes better browning.
- In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Brush the chicken breasts with olive oil, then sprinkle evenly with the spice mixture, rubbing it into both sides of the chicken.
- Place the chicken skin-side up on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and carefully brush each piece generously with barbecue sauce. Return to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- For extra caramelization, brush on another layer of barbecue sauce mixed with brown sugar during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
- The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part and the sauce has caramelized.
- Allow the chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to retain juices.
