- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter until it begins to foam.
- Stir in apple slices so they’re evenly coated in melted butter.
- Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt over the apples. Stir gently to combine.
- Sauté for about 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft and the sugar has formed a syrupy sauce.
- If using nutmeg or vanilla, stir it in now and remove from heat.
