Simple Garlic Shrimp

This garlic shrimp recipe from Chef John is tasty and easy; shrimp are pan-seared with lots of garlic and topped with a perfectly lemony, buttery sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Juice of 1 lemon about 2 tablespoons
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low, add minced garlic, and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in butter, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes until the butter melts and the sauce is smooth.
  6. Return the shrimp to the sauce, toss to coat, then remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
