Method
- Gather all ingredients. Wash asparagus and trim off the woody ends (about 1–2 inches).
- Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a large skillet or saucepan fitted with a steamer insert.
- Place asparagus in the steamer basket, cover, and steam for 4–6 minutes until bright green and just tender-crisp.
- Carefully remove asparagus and transfer to a serving platter. Season with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil or a pat of butter.
- Garnish with lemon wedges and serve immediately.
