Ingredients

  • 4 skinless boneless chicken breast halves (about 2 pounds)
  • 1 bottle 12 oz buffalo wing sauce (like Frank's RedHot)
  • 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix 1 packet
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese or ranch dressing for serving
  • 1 cup prepared coleslaw for topping
  • Dill pickle slices optional, for serving
  • Celery sticks optional, for serving

Method

  1. Place the chicken breast halves in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the buffalo wing sauce and ranch seasoning mix until well combined.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated.
  4. Add the butter on top of the sauced chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 2.5-3 hours, until the chicken is very tender and easily shreds.
  6. Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker, mixing it thoroughly with the sauce.
  7. Allow the shredded chicken to cook in the sauce for an additional 15 minutes to absorb flavors.
  8. Toast your hamburger buns lightly if desired.
  9. To assemble, spread a thin layer of blue cheese or ranch dressing on the bottom bun, add a generous portion of buffalo chicken, top with coleslaw, and place the top bun.
  10. Serve immediately with pickle slices and celery sticks on the side if desired.
