Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

This Salisbury steak and gravy recipe is made relatively quickly in the slow cooker; onion soup mix and seasoned bread crumbs add a boost of flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1 oz packet dry onion soup mix, divided
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Method
 

  1. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk and half the onion soup mix in a large bowl; mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into eight equal patties.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear patties for 2 minutes per side.
  4. Arrange the browned patties in the slow cooker.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, remaining onion soup mix, cornstarch and water until smooth.
  6. Pour the gravy over the patties, cover and cook on low for 4 hours.
  7. Serve each steak smothered in the rich brown gravy with your favorite sides.
