Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and place a baking sheet on the middle rack.
  2. Whisk together eggs, sugar, and dark corn syrup in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until fully combined.
  4. Carefully pour the filling into the pie crust, then sprinkle the pecan halves evenly on top.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes at 400°F, then reduce the heat to 325°F (165°C) and bake for an additional 35–40 minutes, until the filling is set with a slight jiggle in the center.
  6. Remove from oven and let the pie cool completely on a wire rack to achieve that gooey, sticky texture.
  7. Slice and serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate Southern treat.
