Super Easy Hummus

This easy hummus recipe simply combines chickpeas, garlic, cumin, salt, olive oil, and lemon juice to make a delicious homemade dip for pita chips.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 15 ounce can chickpeas, drained, liquid reserved
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients and set up a high-speed blender or food processor.
  2. Add drained chickpeas and 2 tablespoons of the reserved chickpea liquid to the blender.
  3. Throw in garlic cloves, ground cumin, salt, lemon juice, and olive oil.
  4. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed. If too thick, add a bit more reserved liquid.
  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with extra cumin or paprika if desired.
  6. Serve chilled or at room temperature with pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
