  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients and preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add the flour and mix on low speed until the dough holds together.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently press into a 9-inch round pan.
  5. Prick the dough all over with a fork and cut into 12 wedges.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are a delicate golden brown.
  7. Allow the shortbread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
