Tomato Mozzarella Salad

This tomato mozzarella salad, or caprese, is the perfect summer salad to make with creamy mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, and lots of fresh basil.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 large tomatoes sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or balsamic glaze
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients on a clean work surface.
  2. Thinly slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into 1/4-inch rounds.
  3. On a large platter, alternate tomato and mozzarella slices, overlapping slightly in a single layer.
  4. Tuck fresh basil leaves between each slice for pops of green and herbal fragrance.
  5. Drizzle extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar (or glaze) evenly over the salad.
  6. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  7. Serve immediately, or chill for 5–10 minutes if you prefer a cooler salad.
