Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 10.75 oz can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables optional
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 32 oz package frozen tater tots
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the diced onion and garlic to the beef and cook until onions are translucent, about 3 minutes.
  4. Drain excess fat from the skillet.
  5. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  6. If using frozen vegetables, fold them into the beef mixture.
  7. Transfer the beef mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded Cheddar cheese over the beef layer.
  9. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top, covering the entire surface.
  10. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
  11. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of Cheddar cheese over the tater tots and return to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the tater tots are golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  13. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve hot.
