Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons coarse-ground dark roast coffee preferably Vietnamese
  • 4 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • Ice cubes

Method

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil in a kettle or saucepan.
  2. Place 4 tablespoons of coarse-ground coffee into a Vietnamese phin filter (or drip brewer). Pour a small amount of hot water to let the grounds swell for 30 seconds before adding the rest.
  3. Let the coffee drip slowly—this takes about 4–5 minutes for maximum aroma.
  4. Once brewed, stir in 4 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk until fully dissolved.
  5. Fill tall glasses with ice cubes, then pour the sweetened coffee over the ice.
  6. Serve immediately and stir before drinking for a smooth, chilled treat.
