Homemade Iced Tea

This easy iced tea recipe is made with pekoe black tea, just the right amount of sugar, and a squeeze of lemon juice for a refreshing summer drink.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 cups water
  • 6 pekoe black tea bags
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Lemon slices for garnish optional
  • Fresh mint sprigs optional

Method
 

  1. In a large saucepan, bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Remove from heat, add 6 tea bags, cover, and steep for 1 hour.
  3. Stir in ½ cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved while the tea is still warm.
  4. Discard tea bags, pour in lemon juice, then let the tea cool to room temperature.
  5. Transfer to a pitcher, refrigerate until cold, then serve over ice with lemon slices and mint.
