Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef

Method

  1. Gather all ingredients and place a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until no pink remains, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Drain any excess fat. Return the skillet to heat and stir in your favorite chili spices (chili powder, garlic powder, and paprika work great!). Add 1 cup water, stir to combine, and bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer the chili sauce for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavorful.
  5. Toast 6 hot dog buns and warm 6 hot dogs according to package instructions.
  6. Place each hot dog in a bun, top generously with chili sauce, and finish with shredded cheese, diced onions, or sliced jalapeños if desired.
