Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour plus more as needed

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 °F (150 °C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a large bowl, heap the flour. Gradually add water—just a few tablespoons at a time—stirring with a fork until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for 2–3 minutes until smooth. Roll out to about ¼″ thickness.
  4. Use cookie cutters to stamp out festive shapes. Poke a small hole at the top of each ornament with a straw or skewer for hanging.
  5. Arrange ornaments on the baking sheet. Bake for 45–60 minutes, turning halfway, until completely firm and dry.
  6. Let ornaments cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, unleash your inner artist—paint with acrylics, glitter, or markers!
