Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth or water
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese plus extra for garnish
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish optional

Method

  1. Gather all ingredients and prepare the garlic by mincing finely.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the orzo to the pan, stirring for about 2 minutes to lightly toast the pasta.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth or water, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat. Simmer uncovered until the orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 10–12 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
