- Gather all ingredients and prepare the garlic by mincing finely.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the orzo to the pan, stirring for about 2 minutes to lightly toast the pasta.
- Pour in the chicken broth or water, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat. Simmer uncovered until the orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed, about 10–12 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
