Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ pounds chicken drumsticks about 6-8 drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey optional
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray with cooking spray for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the drumsticks dry with paper towels to help ensure crispy skin.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the drumsticks with olive oil until evenly coated.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Sprinkle this seasoning blend over the drumsticks and rub it in to ensure even coverage.
  5. Arrange the seasoned drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and brush each drumstick generously with BBQ sauce. If using honey, mix it with the BBQ sauce before brushing.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the BBQ sauce has caramelized.
  9. For extra sticky, caramelized drumsticks, brush with another layer of BBQ sauce and broil for 2-3 minutes (watch carefully to prevent burning).
  10. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving to help the juices redistribute throughout the meat.
