- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly spray with cooking spray for easy cleanup.
- Pat the drumsticks dry with paper towels to help ensure crispy skin.
- In a large bowl, toss the drumsticks with olive oil until evenly coated.
- In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Sprinkle this seasoning blend over the drumsticks and rub it in to ensure even coverage.
- Arrange the seasoned drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven and brush each drumstick generously with BBQ sauce. If using honey, mix it with the BBQ sauce before brushing.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the BBQ sauce has caramelized.
- For extra sticky, caramelized drumsticks, brush with another layer of BBQ sauce and broil for 2-3 minutes (watch carefully to prevent burning).
- Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving to help the juices redistribute throughout the meat.
