Ingredients for Homemade 7 Layer Bars
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 10–12 sheets)
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil, letting excess hang over the sides. Lightly grease the paper.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the melted butter and graham cracker crumbs until evenly coated.
- Press the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a solid crust.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust, spreading gently as needed.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, and chopped nuts in that order over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before using the parchment to lift them out and slicing into squares.
Tips & Variations
- Mix up the chips: Swap butterscotch for white chocolate or peanut butter chips.
- Nut-free option: Omit nuts and increase coconut for extra chew.
- Make ahead: Bars keep well at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
